On May 9th, 2025 Canadian recording artist Bamtone & Lewitt will release their debut album RUM AND JASMINE.  This Yacht Rock inspired collection has been tailor made for the upcoming summer months as it pays homage to the smooth sounds of The Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan, Christopher Cross, Kenny Loggins and more. These 10 songs were written in 10 days (though they took the weekend off). It features Bamtone on all vocals and the congas, with John picking up the remaining slack. This freedom allowed John to search out the craziest chord combinations he could think of.

The first two singles are out now on all streaming services.

Out today is a brand new song by myself and Gregg Mandel.  Started in a hotel room in LA, this track bounced from Chicago to Toronto and back again before being finished off in Toronto.  It’s not a sappy love song, but rather it’s a love statement, hence the reason we are releasing it on Valentine’s Day!  We'd love it if you gave it a listen (or 12), added it to a playlist, loved it and shared it with everyone you know!  The song is called BETTER TO BE and it's available on all streaming platforms.  
 

Out today is the 10th Anniversary Edition of my debut album GOOD INTENTIONS.  First off, yes I’m aware that I’m one year late in celebrating the 10th anniversary - if you have the actual CD, it says 2013 right there on the back of it.   I started remixing and remastering this album over 2 years ago, with the good intention (no pun intended) of releasing it last fall.   However I quit after getting 80% of the way there, basically I lost interest.   Then one day this spring a song of mine called ‘My Monopoly’ was Shazamed a tonne over a 24 hour period and I soon found out why.   It had been used in a CBC radio contest called Riffed from the Headlines.  This gave me the kick in the ass I needed to finish the project and it got me reflecting on the beginning of my professional music career.  Some of the highlights include…

• ‘Nothing Can Stop Me’ was the first song I ever signed to a sync music library (basically a company that pitches my music to film and television opportunities).
• ‘Go On’ was picked up by CBC radio and played across the country.  The CBC program Fresh Air did a little spotlight of it and one of my wife’s friends heard it and emailed her.  She actually didn’t think it was me, and that she’d misheard, but her daughter was in the car and recognized the song (I’d done a songwriting class at my kids school and gave everyone a CD so she knew my music!).  
• ‘Cast A Shadow, Cast A Doubt’  has been pitched to more Film and TV shows than any other song I’ve written on my own (though it still hasn’t been used in one!)
• ‘My Monopoly’ was used in a CBC radio contest called Riffed from the Headlines.
• Right before releasing this, I was at a music conference in LA and I had given a CD with three songs on it to a music publisher.   I was a complete neophyte and was just learning the music business.   The next day she tracked me down in the hotel lobby to tell me that she’d listened to the CD the night before and loved it.  She called the music honest.   Two of the songs on this album are just that - ‘Good Intentions’ and ‘Turn Out The Lights’. I usually rely on the fictional end of things when writing, but these two tracks were exactly where my head was at the time and I still love them.

So here I go again with my brand new album ONE MORE TIME, trying to capture lightning in a bottle. The life of an independent musician is filled with failure and tiny bits of success (which we shout from the rooftops). We spend hours, days, weeks and even years writing and then recording our songs only to then face the daunting task of trying to grab someone's attention for the 3 minutes it might take for them to listen to just one song. When you think about it it’s truly amazing that we keep doing it. So here I am asking you to listen to at least one of the 11 songs on this album - just pick one randomly, I’m proud of them all, and if you like it then choose another (and another, and another until you run out).

What’s the hardest thing for a songwriter to do? It’s writing an upbeat, positive song and that’s what this tune is.  I played my album for a Sony VP, a renowned Music Supervisor, a Nashville Publisher & a tonne of other artists, and some friends and family and they all agreed that BUILDING MY OWN DREAMLAND is the best song on my upcoming album ONE MORE TIME. Earlier this year I posted a couple cover songs I did as I was preparing for the release of my new album ONE MORE TIME.  Today I’m happy to share with you the unplugged version of THIS IS THE LIFE, which is the first song I’ve released from the upcoming album.  All of these videos are from a show I did for my dog Roxy, who I think slept through most of the show.  I’ve created a YouTube playlist for the videos that I’ve released so far, and will continue to add to it over the next few months.  The playlist is called A Concert for Roxy.
